During late 1970s, the American cola giant Coca-Cola was banned by the Indian government. Following this, the Parle brothers, Ramesh Chauhan and Prakash Chauhan, along with then CEO Bhanu Vakil, launched Thums Up as their flagship drink, adding to their portfolio of older brands Limca (lime flavour) and Gold Spot (orange flavored). Thums Up was basically a cola drink, but the company never claimed it as such. The formula was just as closely guarded as the famous Coke formula. During the same time, the owners of Coca-Cola’s bottling plant, Pure Drinks Ltd., launched Campa Cola and Campa Orange, both of which had a higher dose of carbon dioxide.
The Thums Up logo was a logo showing a red thumbs up hand gesture with a slanted white serif typeface. This would later be modified by Coca-Cola with blue strokes and a more modern-looking typeface. This was mainly done to reduce the dominant red color in their signage. The picture shows the thums up mountain or thums up pahaad(in Hindi)manmad hills which has a natural top like thums up logo and is a popular sight from trains .Its famous caption until the early `80s was, “Happy days are here again”, coined by then famous copywriter Vasant Kumar, whose father was spiritual philosopher U. G. Krishnamurti. Later it was changed to "Taste the thunder!".

I am sorry i am late for this week's site of the week. But as it is said everything happens for a reason, so as this.
I was really thinking what should be this week's SOW(site of the week). But i was not getting time either to post it on the blog. I normally post it on Tuesdays (12th AUGUST)
And then came 15 August; India's Independence day. There was a function arranged by SIES society the parent group of our college (SIESCOMS).
Also on this occasion SIES started SEAT an education trust to sponsor students' education. Since our ex president Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam strongly believes in education and the power of it on the minds of small childrens, our college really managed to call him to innugurate this trust.
He delivered a wonderful speech on Education Knowledge and Leadership. I will try and get the speech if possible.
It was the most memorable Independence Day of my life. So all my search ended, coincidently was thinking of dedicated SOW related to India/Independence, when Kalam sir announced his own website.
Hence presenting Site of the Week :-> http://www.abdulkalam.com
He even said that, if anybody has any kind of query s/he can mail it to apj@abdulkalam.com
And then goes his slogan: " Please repeat after me I CAN DO IT, WE CAN DO IT, INDIA CAN DO IT."

We all talk about e-governance, transparency, right for information. But how many of us know the different types of websites provided by Government of India. Do we know that there exists something called as "India Image".
As it is commonly said that we are converting from memory based culture to intelligence based culture. This is because now a days getting information is not a big deal. But interpreting it intelligently is really big deal. On the same lines our very own government has started an initiative called as India Image.
